Hi all,

I used this method to install RC1 (build 5600) today with VMware Workstation 5.5.2. Still doing some testing, and I get a blue screen every time I perform a restart, but it should be enough to get us going further.

This will install Vista Ultimate with no serial number (activation required later).

Wait until activity stops once you hit 100% at the loading drivers screen.

(Wait 5 seconds between each of the following keypresses)

down arrow (this is the part that selects which version of vista you want)

wait 30 mins while vista installs - machine will reboot at the end - keep an eye on cpu/hdd/cdrom activity

type the name of your userprofile (i.e. John) - keep an eye on hardware activity after each of these steps

enter (wait 10 seconds)
enter (wait 60 seconds)
enter (wait 10 seconds)
enter (wait 10 minutes)
enter (wait 10 minutes)

go to VM menu and select "install vmware tools"

enter (wait 10 seconds)
enter (wait 2 minutes)
enter (wait 2 minutes)
enter (wait 2 minutes)
enter (wait 2 minutes)
enter (wait 2 minutes)
enter (wait 2 minutes)

I hit enter a couple of extra times because the system kept responding with more activity.

Manually reboot the machine with VMware, and Vista should come up.
